Sony CSL Researcher Ai Koizumi Contributes to a Popular Science Book on Neuroscience

Ai Koizumi, Researcher at Sony Computer Science Laboratories (Sony CSL), has contributed as an author to a popular science book on neuroscience published by Kodansha.

The book brings together 13 leading researchers at the forefront of brain science, each explaining their area of expertise in an accessible way for a general audience. It covers a wide range of topics, including how the brain works, the mechanisms of the mind, neurological disorders, and the intersection of artificial intelligence and neuroscience, highlighting the latest advances in brain research.

Koizumi authored the chapter “How the Brain Generates Anxiety” in Part II: The Mind Emerges from the Brain. In this chapter, she explains how anxiety arises in the brain, introducing the underlying neural mechanisms and recent scientific findings.
