Kurumi Sawada

Research Assistant

After obtaining my national license as a physiotherapist, I completed a master’s degree at Hiroshima International University. I have worked in rehabilitation at general hospitals and clinics, mainly in the areas of orthopedics, neurosurgery, and prosthetics. In recent years, I’ve also been involved in the dental field, with a particular focus on oral development and rehabilitation in children.

My research experience includes assisting with projects at Keio University and Tokyo Metropolitan University, such as studies on visually guided kinesthetic illusions in post-stroke patients, and rehabilitation using robotic exoskeletons for individuals with chronic spinal cord injuries.

Through personal experiences with physical and mental health—both my own and those of my family—I’ve come to believe that the mind and body are deeply connected, and that both are essential to well-being. Currently, I work as a research assistant at the Koizumi Laboratory, Sony Computer Science Laboratories, where I explore the intersection of the physical and cognitive aspects of human experience.
